It turns out he is unable to make tears. Consistent "dry eye" has advanced to the point where his eyes have become infected (poor baby). The good news is that it's not contagious and it's an easy fix- just a little eye ointment twice a day and he'll be good to go in no time. He is such a great "patient" too- allows us to wipe his eyes and put the ointment in without difficulty.
