BEASLEY HIT THE JACKPOT AS WELL!

We are thrilled to report that Beasley, the world's sweetest Beagle boy, has also found a terrific home! Beasley was living in the vet clinic alongside Gibson. He had just finished up heartworm treatment when Donna inquired about adopting him.

We would love to adopt Beasley. Brief history: I had a wonderful Beagle named Cooter. My dad lives across the street from me. Cooter was really his dog. My dad is totally disabled from a airplane crash in 1975. He saw Beasley picture and fell in love with him. We lost Cooter in Febuary and it has been really hard. I have a fenced in area. I have taken in two other dogs that have had to go through heartworm treatment. Please help us get Beasley we would give him a wonderful home!

We contacted Donna's vet who told us that he did not even have to look up her records - because she is the best dog mom in the world!

PAWS volunteer, Lisa, picked up Beasley on Saturday and drove out to Donna's house. Beasley took to the whole family immediately. He now spends his time in between Donna's house and her parents' home while Donna is at work (they live across the street). Beasley is never alone and recieving lots of love.

Below are some pictures of Beasley with his new family. Thank you Donna for adopting Beasley! He sure looks happy!

HAPPY TAILS! GIBSON FINDS HIS FOREVER HOME

Sweet Gibson has been waiting for a long time for his perfect forever home. It makes us so happy when one of our longterm residents finds a great family. This poor boy has spent months living in a small cage at the vet's office with very little interest - or the wrong kind of interest. Finally, Gibson's doggie angels appeared.

Lisa drove all the way from Kentucky with her American Bulldog, Buddy, to meet Gibson. We were not sure after so much time in a kennel how Gibson would react to another male dog. Lisa was very patient - and spent several hours letting Gibson and Buddy interact - to make sure that the fit was right.

Gibson is now living happily inside the home with Buddy. He was a little skiddish with Chris, his new Dad, but has warmed up to him as well. Here are some pictures and an update from Gibson's new family.

Just wanting to update you and let you know that Gibson is adjusting very well. Gibson loves to play ball. He and Buddy are very playful together, and he has warmed up to Chris. He loves to be by your side and lay on the couch relax. He has not been in the kennel at all, we are able to leave them out when we leave and he sleeps on the floor by the bed. He does awsome with the kids. He is a very sweet boy and I am so happy that everything is going well.

Thank you Chris and Lisa for giving Gibson a chance at the life he deserves!

DOGGY ANGEL MADNESS...LOVIN' IT!!!

Our northern doggy angels are coming through yet again!!! Members of one of our rescue partners are coming down for a visit next week and will not leave empty handed! It's a dog and puppy run of sorts as well as a chance for some of us to meet the doggy angels in person.

More good news...our new doggy angel friends in Wisconsin are meeting one of our volunteers in St. Louis for another puppy run next week. Not long ago, they rescued 25 puppies/dogs and all but one have been adopted already!

We are so grateful to both of our rescue partners for all of their help! We hope to post updates with pictures soon!

Just a reminder that none of this is possible without foster families. Please...summer is a particularly difficult time to find foster homes due to vacations, etc. We desperately need more short-term foster homes for our pups. If you are interested, please call Allison at 901-240-9848 and we will email you a foster application.

MORRIS - ANOTHER OVERLOOKED CUTIE

Morris is another adorable Pittie who has been with us since JANUARY with no interest. We do not understand why - he is such a sweetheart! Morris is young (maybe 1-2 years) and a nice medium-sized pup. He is playful and fun - He had a blast in the yard with a bone that he discovered. He carried it around in his mouth proudly for all of the pictures taking as if to say "look what I found!"

We have tested him with both male and female dogs - he seems to do well with both!

Poor Moris has been living in a small cage at the vet clinic for 6 months! This is no way for a young, active pup to live. He needs to be out of the vet clinic by the end of June. Please Please consider fostering Morris. Contact: marionangels@yahoo.com, or call Lisa: 901-826-0292.

LOOK AT TERRENCE NOW!

Poor Terrence has been sitting in a small cage at the vet clinic since January - waiting from someone to see what a wonderful dog he is.

Terrence came to us from a street corner in Memphis where he was seen daily - begging for food. He belonged to a family that moved and left him behind. Terrence stayed and waited for them to return - but would go out on walks every day to the street corner, to find scraps of food. Kind people started feeding Terrence - so he kept returning to his street corner every day and going back home to wait for his family at night. He would never let himself be caught though. One day, Terrence decided he had enough and let a nice lady catch him and she brought him to us. Terrence is about 1 year old and just the sweetest boy.

TERRENCE BEFORE

He was underweight, bow legged and very funny looking when he arrived. Good nutrition has made a world of difference for this boy. He looks like a completely different dog (see after pictures below)!

Terrence URGENTLY needs a foster home. He can only stay at the vet clinic until the end of June. Terrence has been going home with on of the clinic employees on weekends - who reports that he is good with other dogs and cats. If you can open your home and heart to Terrence, please contact
marionangels@yahoo.com or call Lisa, 901-826-0292.

TERRENCE TODAY!

THURSDAY'S CREW MADE IT NORTH SAFELY!

We couldn't get pictures of everyone, but Bo, Eileen, Trevor, and 6 other puppies left on Thursday to go North! These lucky pups arrived safely today and are on their way to forever homes! Thanks so much Janet for saving them and Karen with Port-a-Pups Transport for giving them a ride!

CAN ANYONE HELP SWEET SADIE?

Poor sweet Sadie is a young Yellow Lab (1-2 years old) that was abandoned at our vet clinic because she has severe hip dysplasia. This beautiful girl needs surgery on both hips in order to live the life of a normal, happy pup.

Many organizations would give up without trying to help Sadie due to the expense of such a surgery - but we feel she is worth the effort - we hope that you will too. Sadie's hip surgeries will cost between $2500 - $3000. She also has tested positive for heartworm...

We have a rescue interested in Sadie - but need to find her a loving foster home and raise some funds for her medical needs before she can go to rescue.

As you can tell in these pictures, Sadie is your typical loving, happy Lab. Please help us to help her find her way to a loving forever home, by sponsoring her surgery expenses.

Sadie is currently living in a small cage at the vet clinic - can you imagine how uncomfortable she is? We need to find her a foster home where she can stretch out and enjoy some home living. Please give this girl a chance! Contact marionangels@yahoo.com or call Lisa, 901-826-0292.

Thank you for caring about our pups!

8 ADORABLE PUPPIES NEED 5 DAY FOSTER HOME

Have you ever seen such cuteness? These 8 puppies were rescued from someone's yard - they were covered in fleas and fly bites - but look at them now! They are lucky to have found a wonderful foster home (thank you Christy!) and even luckier to have a rescue to go to. One small problem...Their current foster mom is going out of town on 6/22 and their rescue is coming to pick them up on 6/27...that leaves 5 days where these cuties will be homeless...can you help?

We are looking for a local indoor foster home to keep these precious babies safe from 6/22 - 6/27. Now we know it is a lot to ask someone to take in 8 pups - but it is only shortterm, and they don't ask for much! Just food, a warm bed and a yard to run around in.

The pups are NOT available for adoption. The rescue that is taking them already has approved homes waiting. Please help them in their journey to love and hapiness by fostering these pups for 5 days.

If you can help - please contact Lisa Britton, 901-826-0292.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST: UPDATE ON ROCKY & BULLWINKLE

We were excited to receive an update on Rocky and Bullwinkle (aka Lucky and Coco) from their owner, Nancy:

"I am really enjoying the dogs. They are a little bigger but I think they are now done growing. Lucky (Bullwinkle) has turned out having curly hair and is a lighter color than Coco (Rocky) who is still a deep copper color with short straight Teddy bear like fur.

Coco is really good on the leash, though he is the more "troublesome one" in respects
to singing and even sounds like he talks and will chew anything in sight! I have had
many ups and downs with them. Lucky is still difficult on the leash but much better.
However, they are UNBELIEVABLY ADORABLE, LOVABLE, and the best way to describe them would be bundles of joy. They sleep at the foot and side of my bed and wait patiently for me to awake. When I do you would think they hadn't seen me for a month. Thank you all ever so much. They are great company and so much fun."

Thanks again Nancy for taking in these boys when they needed it most!
It looks like they have a wonderful life with you!

BAGEL: THE STORY OF A SURVIVOR

This is our second plea for help for Bagel. We once again stepped up to help a dog that most would give up on before even starting - This has resulted in a $2000+ vet bill for Bagel - not including the daily boarding costs we are incurring as nobody has stepped up to foster this poor girl. Our last fundrasing effort on her behalf raised $85.00. We need more help! Bagel has been through a horrible ordeal - and survived, only to sit in small vet cage for months on end waiting for a foster home.

PLEASE consider either donating to Bagel's vet bill, or providing a loving foster home for her. Without your help we cannot continue to take on the special needs cases - and where will that leave the dogs who need us the most? Below is Bagel's story - please pass this onto your family and friends and any dog lovers you know that may be able to help.
------------------------------

Bagel is living proof of the resilient and forgiving nature of dogs.

This poor girl came to us when a caring soul called Animal Control for help. Our volunteer, Joan, went out on the call with the ACO and could not believe what she found.

Bagel was lying in her own blood in front of some garbage cans, while a group of teens held a party around her.

Bagel had been shot several times at close range - she still has a bullet in her head and one in her jaw that cannot be removed because of proximity to the brain.

Bagel was bleeding out and would have surely died if Joan had not wrapped towels around her wounds and rushed her to the vet. Bagel also had a prolapsed uterus, which meant she had to be spayed immediately, which was dangerous considering the amount of blood she had lost.

Despite the odds - Bagel survived. After months in the vet clinic - she is a gorgeous, healthy girl. Look at that smile! How can a dog that has been so mistreated - be so kind?

Bagel is tired of living in a small cage at the vet clinic and really needs a foster home that will care for her until her forever home can be found. Can you help?

If you can open your home and heart to Bagel, please contact Joan 870-739-1145, or Allison, 901-240-9848.Bagel looks like a purebred Rottie, but she is very small (40 - 45lbs). We estimate her to be 1-2 years old.

Please consider sponsoring her.

Bagel is just one of many special needs dogs in our care right now - please help us to continue to help these souls that have nobody to speak for them.

JADEA: ANOTHER MIRACLE PUP STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP

Jadea is another miracle dog. She is a black and tan hound that was found on the side of the expressway, starving, lifeless and completely broken. No one knows how long she laid out there on the side of the road suffering and starving. A caring person saw her raise her head and stopped to pick her up, and started her journey to recovery.

PAWS volunteer, Joan Welch, brought her to Shelby Center Hospital for Animals to let Dr. Parker put her back together.

Jadea was emaciated beyond belief, she is heartworm positive, she was infested with intestinal parasites, she had rips in both her ears, scars and cuts all over and to top it off she had a crushed pelvis and broken femur. Treatment had to wait on her broken bones for over a week because she was too unstable to operate on. Her surgeries had to be split up because there was so much damage. Both hips had to be repaired and have screws placed to secure both. She also had to have her femur plated to hold it together.

Her recovery has been both long and painful. For many days after each surgery she could not walk without support. Over the weeks she has improved greatly. Now she can walk on her own most day, though still at a slow pace. She still doesn't have complete use both rear legs and may never be completely right but she can live a great life.

Jadea is an amazing dog. She gives the best doggie kisses and she barks at you when she wants your attention. To have been so starved she is the most gentle dog when it comes to taking food from you. She never snips food out of you hand or gets aggressive over food.

Jadea's vet bill is extremely high (over $2000) due to all that had to be done to save her life. So far we have received $45.00 in donations for Jadea, which we greatly appreciate - but more help is needed. Jadea is definitely worth it though. She is truly an angel. Donations are needed to help pay her vet bill. Jadea would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

HAPPY TAIL: JASMINE IN WISCONSIN!

Here is an update from Jasmine's new owners:

Well, I just wanted to let you know that Jasmine is settling in well with her new family! She is doing great and learning fast. She already knows sit, laydown, come and we are getting close to mastering stay. She is adjusting well to her new lifestyle of toys, treats and a lot of play time. Her and Jack play all the time and you can tell that they just love each others' company! It's funny because sometimes Jack will get a little jealous if we give her too much attention :-) But, I think they really enjoy each other. They are just exhausted by the end of the day and just crash at bedtime. And so far, everyone that has met her just absolutely loves her! It is fantastic to see the dogs get along so well with everybody, especially Jasmine! People are always asking where I got her because they want to adopt one like her. We just wanted to keep you posted on her status. Hope all is going well with finding new homes for all of your dogs!
Thanks so much for everything, Monica, Ryan, Jack & Jasmine"

Thanks again Emily and Crew for finding Jasmine such a wonderful home!
