MEET NEWBIES MOLLY AND MAUREEN!

Meet precious Maureen and Molly. These sisters are absolutely adorable! They are about 4-5 months old (just a guess) and are very loving and sweet. They want so badly to romp and play in a yard. Can someone please foster these two why we search for a great home for them?

MEET NEWBIE HAZEL!

This is Hazel! She has been at the shelter for a couple of weeks. She is a gorgeous chocolate brown color. Hazel appears to be a Chocolate Lab mix (maybe with a Doberman?) and has a docked tail. She is about 1-2 years old and sadly has tested positive for heartworms. Hazel is a very sweet girl who desperately needs to get out of the shelter. Please consider fostering her while we search for a permanent home.

Come on...isn't Bo Bo just gorgeous! Not only that, but he is very sweet as well. This boy loves his Kong toy! Won't you please consider fostering Bo Bo- he used to live in a comfy home with a female canine companion (now he's stuck in a shelter with cold concrete floors).

MEET NEWBIE REBEL!

Meet Rebel! He is an absolutely stunning Catahoula Leopard Dog mix (at least we think he looks just like one- some think Blue Heeler/Aussie mix). He was surrendered by his owner. Rebel is a young boy (under a year old). He really needs a home to call his own!

Daisy is such a sweetheart- a little shy, but very sweet! She has been at the shelter for nearly 3 weeks. Can you PLEASE take this sweetheart home (at least foster her).

We apologize for the delay in updating the blog (volunteers are just incredibly busy). We will be taking new pictures (and updating some older ones) in the next day or two, so please check back for our new arrivals. We desperately need foster homes (ASAP) as the shelter is working on a new policy and we will only have 24 hours to get dogs out if new ones come in (since the shelter is at capacity). It could be tomorrow that another dog comes in and we have nowhere to take anyone at this point. We would love to have a few "emergency fosters" to call when this happens. IVY NEEDS A FOSTER HOME FOR A FEW WEEKS

Can someone PLEASE foster this precious girl for a few weeks. Ivy has a rescue that will take her Mid-March and we have been unsuccessful with locating a foster home (our regular foster homes are full). She just needs to be leash-walked and loved that's all. The vet clinic staff say she is the sweetest girl in the world. We are begging...PLEASE. Ivy has been though so much already (remember- she is the dog that was run over by a car and has undergone several surgeries to repair her leg).

FOSTER HOMES & SPONSORS STILL NEEDED

We are begging again for foster homes and financial sponsors. As everyone knows, donations are WAY down. Except for a few regular doggy angels (unbelievable people actually), we really do not get many donations. Even the smallest amount makes a huge difference. Not eating fast food for a week or grabbing that coffee at the gas station for a month can help tremendously (plus it will make you feel great knowing you are literally saving lives). As you may know, we can no longer take dogs for medical treatment unless they are sponsored. Nearly 80% of our dogs are heartworm positive (treatment ranges from $150-$300). It typically costs another $100 to prepare the dog for adoption (e.g., spay/neuter, shots, fecal exam, etc.). So...with an adoption fee of generall $100, you can see why we are in the hole. All of this because we wanted to save EVERY LIFE that came into the Marion Animal Shelter. Please allow us to still do that. We do not want to be forced to pick and choose who lives. Don't forget all donations are tax-deductible through PAWS.

Foster homes are absolutely essential. In order for our pups to find homes up north, they need to get out of the shelter and into a home environment. This can be one of the most rewarding experiences (just try it once and you'll be hooked).

If you prefer, you could help in other ways too. Our foster homes are always in need of towels/blankets, dog bowls, dog toys, crates, good quality dog food, and other supplies. We are looking for someone to donate their services to develop a website for us. That way we can get a fresh look which will in turn help our pups get adopted. If someone has a good quality camera they would like to donate to help take pictures of our dogs, please let us know. Heck, if someone can come to the shelter to help take pictures, that would be fantastic too! How about walking the dogs? Or taking them to dog training? Even better, how about making PAWS your fundraising project- HOW GREAT WOULD THAT BE? Fencing or dog pens are always needed. We could go on and on... If you can think of it, we could use it.
